The Bacteriology department specializes in the isolation, identification, and antibiotic susceptibility testing of bacterial pathogens in birds. Utilizing aerobic, anaerobic, and microaerophilic culture systems along with advanced biochemical identification kits, this unit diagnoses a wide range of infections including Salmonellosis, Colibacillosis, Mycoplasmosis, Ornithobacteriosis, Pasteurellosis, Clostridiosis, and other common and emerging bacterial diseases in poultry. Antibiotic resistance patterns are determined with high precision using the disk diffusion method (Kirby-Bauer) and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) testing, enabling us to recommend the most effective minimum antibiotic dosage for optimal treatment.
